Identifying Forms of Change and Methods for Adapting
Managing change in a company requires first understanding that there are different types of change. The three main categories are as follows:
Change in development
A "developmental transformation" occurs when one realizes that something can be improved through modification rather than disposal. Your marketing team may be falling behind schedule, or HR may need to exercise tight supervision over the workforce for a set period of time while the company adjusts to the new circumstances. It's crucial to maintain strict control over your staff for a predetermined and regulated time period during these transitions.
Change in transition
There is often a link between transitional and transformative shifts. There may come a time in your company's development when new policies and procedures are required. It's important to keep an eye out for these demands during periods of change so you can respond appropriately.
Transformational changes
There is usually a period of change that follows a period of transition. Sometimes, as a company develops, it will find that it needs to implement fresh policies and procedures. It's crucial to keep your wits about you during periods of transition so that you can respond quickly if necessary.
What kind of shifts do you typically see occurring at work? How consistent are you, or are you constantly evolving? Describe an area where transformation is inevitable.
