5 Ways to Show Your Gratitude to Your Employees This Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is about celebrating the things that you a grateful for — whether it’s your family, friends, a new opportunity, or just the simple things in life that make you full of happiness and gratitude. If you are a business owner, you might be forgetting to say your thanks to the most important people who keep your company running: your employees.

Thanksgiving is the perfect time to show each and every member of your organization how grateful you are for all they do and to reinforce their value to your company. If you are looking for ways to show your employees how much they are appreciated, here are some ideas:

  1. Give them a day off

Your employees do wonders for your company every day and work hard to help your organization thrive. But they’re not supermen and women — they need rest too! There’s no better way to treat your employees this Thanksgiving than to allow them to have a well-deserved break. They spend most hours a day in the office, so give them more time out of work to spend with their families in the holiday season.

  2. Send personalized thank you cards

Employees love to hear that their bosses appreciate the work they do and value them as members of the organization. If you are grateful for your employees, you need to let them know. Send thank you cards to each of them. Instead of making an email blast to thank your employees as a whole, opt to get personal and specific so they know that you are addressing each of them directly.

A fun way to deliver your thank you cards is by leaving them on your employees’ desks! If you don’t have the luxury of time for this, however, you can make it a point to send virtual thank you note to at least one employee a day leading up to Thanksgiving.

  3. Set up a gratitude platform

Help your employees celebrate Thanksgiving in the office by setting up a gratitude platform where every member of your organization can share the things that they are thankful for. You can either create a gratitude wall on a bulletin board and have each member write down what they are most thankful about or set up a Slack thread for a more digital approach. Remember to be the first to express your gratitude on your platform and wait for each employee to follow suit.

  4. Organize a celebration

If you’re thinking about going all out for your employees this season, organize a small Thanksgiving celebration in the office. Come up with activities that every member can join in on, and of course, don’t forget to prepare food and drinks. You can have a potluck and ask each employee to contribute their dishes to the table or engage a corporate events caterer.

This not only shows your employees that you are grateful for them and want to treat them to a party, but it also doubles as a team-building event where your workers can enjoy, socialize, and reinforce their happiness in your organization.

  5. Make it easy for employees who have to work on Thanksgiving

If your industry demands continuous operations even on Thanksgiving, make efforts to make holiday work more comfortable for your employees. You can think about allowing a work-from-home setup, reducing shift hours, or even permitting employees to bring their families along to work with them for a Thanksgiving activity or celebration!
